San Jose Adult Entertainment: Cold Case Investigators Swarm Garrido Property

… People who commit these offenses tend to be predatory” and generally have multiple victims, von Savoye said.
Both agencies promised a very methodical search of the property.  Aerial footage of Garrido’s backyard showed at least one officer on his hands and knees searching blades of grass by hand.  Hayward and Dublin investigators said they also planned to use ground-penetrating radar in their search.
The originaly search of the properties found a bone fragment which authorities have said it is likely a human bone.  Tests are still being performed on that bone.
The search could last into next week and sources say it could include digging and knocking down buildings on the property.
Pittsburg police also searched the property for clues linking the couple to the murders of prostitutes but later said they found no evidence to tie the Garridos to those cases.

San Jose Adult Entertainment: Campbell council leans toward letting adult store keep its location

the meeting, the council recommended extending the amortization period, between five to 10 years, which would allow the business to remain under its current conditions and at its same location until it comes time to apply for another extension.
Another option was to “grandfather” the shop in, but city officials were weary to do that since it would be permanent and would apply to the land, not the owners. It would also allow other similar existing businesses to be grandfathered in, although Pleasures of the Heart is the only known business in the city to fall under the ordinance.
The sexually-oriented business ordinance was part of a series set in place to regulate the establishment and operations of potentially offensive businesses; for example, one ordinance regulates smoking establishments. But a secondary goal, officials said, was to curb possible negative effects — such as crime and violence — that have historically been linked to the adult entertainment industry.

San Jose Escorts: Garridos are focus of additional kidnap probes

Kayla, as the 9-year-old was called, was hanging out with a friend at a Hayward store Nov. 19, 1988, when she was snatched by a man who drove off in a dilapidated, gold-color car.
Police have noted similarities between a sketch of Michaela’s kidnapper and Phillip Garrido’s appearance at the time.
Dublin police are also participating in the search to see if the Garridos are linked to the disappearance of Ilene Misheloff, who was 13 when she vanished while walking near her Dublin home about a month after Michaela was kidnapped.
Dugard’s reappearance prompted an intensive four-day search in late August of the property where the Garridos allegedly kept her in a backyard compound for 18 years. Pittsburg police said they were trying to determine whether the Garridos were connected to the slayings of 10 prostitutes and a 15-year-old girl in the late 1990s, but authorities later said they had found no evidence to indicate they were.

Phillip Garrido’s $30 million bail amount, set at a Monday hearing by an El Dorado County judge, is not the highest ever.
In 1988, for instance, the late San Francisco Judge J. Dominique Olcomendy — weary that a 25-year-old alleged prostitute was continually being arrested and released — briefly set her bail at $5 billion.
“I know the amount of bail is outrageous,” Olcomendy admitted.
Leaving aside the oddities of the city by the bay, Garrido’s bail is right up there, putting the alleged kidnapper-rapist of Jaycee Dugard in the company of a band of similarly notorious killers, molesters and scam artists.
