San Jose Adult Entertainment: Two men shot to death in Santa Cruz early Saturday morning

The upstairs door of the apartment where the men were shot was open this morning. A mountain bike, white plastic lawn chairs and bags of trash sat on the balcony next to the door.
Some neighbors said they didn’t hear the shooting, but said they woke to police knocking on their doors.
Leyla Hollingsworth, who has lived across from the apartments for 12 years, said the unit where the men were killed has been mired with drug and prostitution problems.
“I’ve told the cops about this for the last three or four years,” the 38-year-old said. “I’m sick of what’s going on in my community.”
The lower-income neighborhood is comprised of apartments and older houses, most of which are rented to college students and families. It is known as a hot spot for prostitution and drug sales.

San Jose Adult Entertainment: GLN Calls for Freedom to Marry Day Picket of Holy Name Cathedral

While Catholic leaders decry any attempts to label them as haters and bigots, their own scapegoating statements tell a very different story about their true feelings:
** Former pope Karol Wotija, aka John Paul II, condemned gay foster parents for doing “violence” to children. He called us “disordered,” and “against the natural law.” He railed against civil marriage equality for all same-sex couples whether Catholic or not, condemning our civil marriage contract as an act “against God,” and proclaimed defeating marriage equality his “primary task” for 2005.
** In a 2005 pastoral letter read in every church in the diocese of Calgary, Alberta, Bishop Frederick Henry called on his flock to stamp out same-sex marriage. “Since homosexuality, adultery, prostitution and pornography undermine the foundations of the family, the basis of society, then the State must use its coercive power to proscribe or curtail them in the interests of the common good.” ( 365Gay.com )

San Jose Strip Clubs: Photos were taken after loss to Canucks

The Hawks were angry with themselves for losing. I was in the dressing room at GM Place and saw it. But it was game 52 in an 82-game schedule, the fifth stop on an eight-game, 15-day road trip. Isn’t this a team that has proved itself time and time again this season to earn the benefit of the doubt from fans for an occasional loss? Look at the body of work here. It was one loss in January.
These were three players on a 21-man roster photographed. Where do you think the others were that night? I guarantee you most of them, if not all of them, were out on the town as well. All that is missing is the photo evidence.
This just in: Pro athletes like to go out on the road. Stop the presses.
And one last thing: For anyone to even remotely compare these limo pictures to Theo Fleury getting beat up in a Columbus strip club in January 2003 as leading to a possible collapse by the Hawks here is as off base and shows a complete and total lack of knowledge of either situation.

San Jose Strip Clubs: Apple Announces iPad

Physically, the iPad resembles a large iPod touch, with a 9.7-inch multi-touch screen that, curiously, offers a 4:3 standard aspect ratio rather than the expected widescreen display. (It runs at 1024 x 768 resolution.) The device is also oddly ugly, for an Apple product, with a very wide bezel around all four sides of the display.
Apple is offering a whopping six different versions of the device, at prices that range from $499 for a stripper model with a lowly 16 GB of storage and no 3G wireless connection (all iPads do offer 802.11n connectivity however) to a more Apple-esque $829 model with 64 GB of storage and 3G. Of course, 3G connectivity is not included in the price (as is the case with Amazon’s Kindle eBook reader), though Apple is offering some affordable pay-as-you-go plans, including 250 MB of data for $15 per month and unlimited data for $30 per month. These plans can be started up and stopped at any time, and do not require a contract. Sadly, they are available through AT&T only.

San Jose Escorts: A strong start to a new mystery series

… City of Dragons” by Kelli Stanley; Minotaur (352 pages, $24.99)Unconventional characters provide the backbone of the mystery genre. And Kelli Stanley’s riveting new series about 1940s San Francisco private investigator Miranda Corbie revels in the character’s uniqueness without resorting to cliches.
Miranda’s former life as an “escort,” a euphemistic attempt to soften that she sometimes was a prostitute, is only part of the back story of this very complex character with a dark past.
The gritty, hard-boiled “City of Dragons” works as an insightful look at racisim and sexism. Stanley never misses a beat as she also shows San Francisco’s hidden corners, seething emotions in the days before WWII.
On this bright February day in 1940, San Francisco is alive with fireworks and crowds as the city celebrates the Chinese New Year with the Rice Bowl Party. This year the three-day carnival is a fund-raiser for China’s war relief. The horrors of The Rape of Nanking – the Japanese capture of the Chinese city – have emotions running high, especially in Chinatown where the news has many personal ramifications for the citizenry.

San Jose Escorts: Judge signs, seals arrest warrant for Santa Cruz killings

Police continue to investigate the motive, including if there was a gang connection.
On Monday, the Police Department dive team searched unsuccessfully in the San Lorenzo River near the Riverside Bridge for the gun used in the fatal shooting. Investigators received a tip that someone had thrown an object into the water as officers responded to the shooting just before 5 a.m. Saturday.
Investigators said Nava-Gonzalez and Ventura shared the apartment with others.
The men and their killer were in the living room and among about 10 people in the two-story apartment at the time.
Most of the other people were asleep upstairs when the fatal shooting occurred, Friend said.
The Canfield complex isn’t known as a problem area in the neighborhood, which has been marred with drug and prostitution problems over the years, and neighbors were shocked by the killings.

Brentwood Teacher Arrested For Allegedly Soliciting Sex From Student
Posted: 4:28 pm PST January 26, 2010
BRENTWOOD, Calif. — Brentwood police arrested a Heritage High School teacher on Friday on suspicion of soliciting a female student for sex, Brentwood police Lt. Tom Hansen said Tuesday.
Darin Price allegedly contacted a student on Thursday and tried to entice her to perform sexual acts, Hansen said.
Police do not believe that the girl had any physical contact with Price.
Price remained in county jail Tuesday on suspicion of contacting a minor with the intent to commit a sexual offense, arranging to meet a minor for sexual purposes and annoying or molesting a child. His bail has been set at $95,000.
Hansen said investigators were planning to meet with the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office this afternoon to present the case.
