Twelve arrests in Dublin prostitution sting

DUBLIN — Police arrested 12 people Wednesday during a prostitution sting in Dublin.
The sting targeted people advertising services on the Internet, said Dublin Police Lt. Linda Thuman.
Ten women and two men were taken into custody at an undisclosed site in the city. Police would not release any further details on the location.
The all-day operation by the department’s special investigation officers was conducted after police received information of an existing prostitution, Thuman said. Stings of this nature are done periodically whenever the department senses a problem, she said.
“Enforcement activities tend to make a reduction, for hopefully an extended period of time,” she said.
