San Jose Adult Entertainment: ACORN struggles amid scandal
It’s not only ACORN’s future that appears shaky. ACORN Housing Corp., a legally separate but related organization, also has been engulfed in the scandal. It too plays a large role in Bridgeport with its efforts to prevent foreclosures and help first-time home buyers access federal assistance programs. Bank of America announced this week it was suspending ties to ACORN and ACORN Housing.
The organizations are reeling from allegations of voter registration fraud and unethical practices. ACORN is being investigated in several states, including Connecticut, for allegedly registering phony
voters, while ACORN Housing’s troubles center on a video allegedly showing workers in several offices in other states providing information on avoiding taxes to people posing as a prostitute and pimp who said they want to open a brothel using child sex slaves.
