San Jose Adult Entertainment: Fremont businessmen follow their passion

FREMONT — Life as a prostitute is not going well for Amy Johnson. Her best friend is moving away, her flamboyantly gay pimp is threatening her life, and her latest “john” just had a heart attack. The only hope for her, and her daughter, it seems, is an Indian immigrant cabdriver with boyish good looks and a sweet disposition.
That is the axis from which spins a new feature film that two Fremont men are risking their reputations and nearly $1.5 million to get on the silver screen.
Amrik Chand Lakha, 57, and Brij Chandok, 60, spend more time together than some married couples. They drink tea together weekday mornings, share lunch in the afternoon and sip wine at the end of the working day. They even complete each other’s sentences.

It’s a love story about an Indian man and a down-and-out American woman in San Francisco whose intercultural romance must conquer illness; the woman’s bloodthirsty pimp; and the man’s skeptical parents in Mumbai, who already have a bride chosen for him.
