San Jose Escorts: White Christmas’ leads Oscar’s best-songs list
9. “Last Dance” (”Thank God It’s Friday,” 1978): There are a number of reasons why this campy cult classic film is worth watching.
The best one, though, is the chance to hear Donna Summer belt out this gorgeous disco anthem.
8. “When You Wish Upon a Star” (”Pinocchio,” 1940): I’m in favor of any number sung by an animated cricket, especially one voiced by Cliff Edwards. Since “Pinocchio,” there have been countless cover versions, but the best is Louis Armstrong’s. It’s such a forgiving tune, though, that even Gene Simmons managed to record a fine rendition.
7. “Lose Yourself” (”8 Mile,” 2002). A dose of pure
adrenaline, “Lose Yourself” captures Eminem at his manic, menacing, magnetic best. It’s much better than the other hip-hop tune that has won the big prize, “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp” (”Hustle & Flow,” from 2005).
